    • Celebration of Freedom Scholarship
      AWARD:
      One or two semesters—Amount varies
      Selection Criteria:
      1. Citizenship in an Eastern Bloc country
      2. Admitted BYU F-1 international student
      3. Academic standing
      4. Economic need
      Application Deadline:   May 1
      To Apply:
      1. Complete the application
      2. Submit the application by May 1 to:
        International Services
        1351 WSC
        Brigham Young University
        Provo, UT 84602
      IMPORTANT NOTES: You are responsible to see that all required information is received by International Services prior to the May 1st deadline.

      You must have Acrobat Reader Version 7 or later installed on your computer in order to use computer keyboard-fillable and e-mail-submission features.

      APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS  Please Read
      1. Open Celebration of Freedom Scholarship Application (PDF document)
      2. Simply use your computer keyboard to fill in each blank
      3. Use your TAB key to move from blank to blank
      4. Press the Submit button when complete
      5. Carefully follow the instructions (You will have to save the file and then attach it if you use a Web-based E-mail program like Hotmail and do not have a computer-resident mail program such as Outlook™.)

      OR if you prefer, you may obtain an application in our office, complete it there, and leave it for processing.


    • Latin American Scholarship
      AWARD:
      One or two semesters—Amount varies
      Selection Criteria:
      1. Admitted BYU international student of Latin-American descent
      2. Economic necessity
      3. Leadership experience
      4. Academic standing
      Application Deadline:   March 1
      To Apply:
      1. Complete the application
      2. Submit the application by March 1 to:
        International Services
        1351 WSC
        Brigham Young University
        Provo, UT 84602
      3. Have your bishop or other ecclesiastical leader submit a letter of recommendation to International Services by March 1.
      IMPORTANT NOTES: You are responsible to see that all required information is received by International Services prior to the March 1st deadline.

  • BYU scholarships and BYU graduate awards
  • International Need-Based Grant for undergraduate F-1s only—Applicant must have earned at least 24 BYU credit hours, be in good academic standing, and be able to document financial need. Application is made by completing the BYU General Scholarship Application form accessed through Route Y. Apply Now
  • Office of Prestigious Scholarships: Campus scholarships, fellowships, internships and other opportunities

Other Resources

  • Short and Long-term Loans—You must be employed on campus in order to be eligible for a BYU short-term loan. The only long-term loans available are from the Graduate Marriott School of Management or the J. Ruben Clark Law School, and both require an application and approval.
  • Temporary Emergency Loans—For emergencies, International Services provides loans of up to $100 for up to 30 days. Come to our office to apply.
  • Workshops—The Counseling and Career Center offers workshops on budgeting. Financial Services provides information regarding loans.
