International Services directs the BYU Exchange Visitor Program in cooperation with the university's sponsoring departments. We recognize that J-1 students are assets to BYU, and we are wholly committed to assist Graduate Studies whenever the department admits international J-1 students to study on campus.

Departments have responsibility to:

• appropriately invite exchange visitor students to campus,
• provide program information before their program begins,
• encourage them to maintain their status,
• connect them with local friend families and
• direct visitors to International Services for check in.

Exchange visitors have responsibility to understand and comply with the necessary regulations regarding their activities and status.

Because there are many details and critical legal requirements to which the exchange visitors and their sponsors must attend, this site will assist your department in appropriately meeting specific responsibilities to its exchange visitors.
